The rules for using Contora, in plain English.

DraftThis is a plain-English starting draft, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a solicitor before the site goes live.

Who we are

Contora (ABN 00 000 000 000) runs the Contora vase Designer and this website at contora.design. In these terms, “we” and “us” means Contora, and “you” means the person using the service.

What Contora is

Contora is a browser-based tool for designing vases and exporting them as files for 3D printing. It runs in a desktop web browser. We keep improving it, so features may change over time.

Your account

You sign in either through Google or Facebook, or with an email address and a password you choose. Keep those details to yourself: anyone who can open your email or your connected account can open your Contora account. You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian’s permission, to create an account.

The free trial

A new account includes a free trial of the full Designer. The trial length is shown on the pricing page when you sign up, and it starts the first time you open the Designer, not when you create your account. During the trial you can save and reopen your designs, but exporting STL files and the AI Render Kit are switched off. When the trial ends, you need a paid plan to keep using the Designer. We do not ask for a card to start a trial.

Paid plans and payment

Paid plans are monthly subscriptions, priced in US dollars. Payments are handled by Stripe through Link, which acts as the merchant of record: your purchase is "sold through Link". That means Link processes your payment, charges any applicable tax, issues your receipts and manages renewals under its own terms, which you will see at checkout. Your bank statement shows LINK.COM followed by our name. You can also manage the subscription from your Link account at link.com.

Subscriptions, renewal, cancellation and refunds

Vase Builder Personal and Vase Builder Seller are monthly subscriptions. Each one renews automatically at the start of every billing month until you cancel it.

You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing month you have already paid for, then stops.

We do not give partial refunds for the unused part of a billing month, and there is no minimum term or cancellation fee. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, described below, are not affected.

When a plan ends, your account stays open and the designs you saved are kept, but locked the same way as an expired trial: you cannot open the Designer or export files until you subscribe again. Subscribing again unlocks them.

The first time you subscribe to Vase Builder Personal, you also get 7 days of the AI Render Kit, once per account. If you cancel during those 7 days, that access ends when your paid month ends or when the 7 days run out, whichever comes first.

Using Contora fairly

You agree not to:

  • copy, resell or give others access to the Designer itself, or share your account;
  • try to get round the trial, plan limits or any other access controls;
  • interfere with the service, overload it, or probe it for weaknesses without our written permission;
  • import profiles or other material that you do not have the right to use.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

Your designs

You own the designs you make and the files you export. Our design licence explains exactly what you can do with them, which is almost anything, including selling them.

Our software and brand

The Designer, its code, its interface, the Contora name and logo, and this website belong to us. Using Contora does not give you any rights in them beyond using the service under these terms.

Printing and results

Contora gives wall thickness guidance and exports watertight files, but every printer, slicer and material behaves differently. Check your settings and do a test print before printing in volume. You are responsible for how you use what you print, including making sure a vase is suitable for its purpose, such as holding water.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, our total liability to you is limited to supplying the service again or refunding what you paid for it in the previous twelve months.

Availability

We aim to keep Contora running smoothly but cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance or updates.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Contora grows. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Contora after that means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction.
