What we collect, why, and what we never do with it.

DraftThis is a plain-English starting draft, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a solicitor before the site goes live.

We collect as little as we can and use it only to run Contora. This policy follows the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

  • Your email address, to create your account and send you account emails such as the welcome and any password reset. If you sign in through Google or Facebook, we receive your email address and, where they provide it, your name from that service. We never receive your password for it.
  • Account records: your plan, your trial start and end dates, and your subscription status.
  • Your saved designs: when you press Save in the Designer, the design and a small preview picture of it are stored in your Contora account, so you can open them on any computer.
  • Your Designer preferences: your own colours and render scenes, so they follow you between computers.
  • Messages you send us through the contact form: your name, email and what you wrote.
  • Payment records. Stripe and Link collect your payment details directly. We receive a customer reference, your plan, your subscription status and your renewal date, never your card number.

Contora staff can view saved designs and their previews to run and improve the service. We never show your designs publicly, in our gallery, marketing or social media, without asking you first. Exports (STL files, clay images and render kits) go straight to your device; we do not store them. You can delete any saved design, and deleting your account deletes all of them.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site. We do not add you to a mailing list without asking.

Storage in your browser

When you sign in, your browser stores a session token so you stay signed in. The Designer also keeps a recovery copy of unsaved changes in your browser, so a closed tab does not lose your work, and a copy of designs that are waiting for a connection to save. These stay on your computer. The recovery copy and the offline copies are cleared when you sign out; a save still waiting is sent the next time you sign in. The site also remembers, for the current visit only, whether it has shown the opening animation. Neither is used to track you.

Who helps us run Contora

We use a small number of service providers, who handle your information only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase, for sign-in and our account database.
  • Hostinger, which hosts this website.
  • Stripe and Link (a Stripe company), which handle payments, with Link as merchant of record.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. We choose providers with strong security and privacy practices.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information and saved designs while your account is open. If your trial or paid plan ends, we keep your saved designs so they are there if you come back, for the period shown on your account page (currently 12 months from the end of your trial or your last paid day). After that we may delete the account and its designs. If you ask us to close your account, we delete your account information, except records we must keep by law, such as payment records.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have your account deleted. Use our contact page and we will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first so we can put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and, if the change matters, tell you by email.
